Oolong tea, also known as ‘brown tea’ or ‘wu long tea’ is a hybrid between green tea and black tea. They are semi-fermented, giving them great complexity, flavour and more strength than Green Teas, but with less caffeine content than fully-fermented black teas. Sourced from the finest tea plantations from both China and Taiwan, the taste of Oolong tea can vary but most commonly it has a woody or flowery flavour.
In China, teas have always been associated with herbal medicine and drinking tea is often associated with soothing the mind and uplifting the spirits.Oolong tea is recognised for its many health benefits, including strengthening and maintaining a healthy immune system. Oolong tea originated about 400 years ago and was first produced at Mount Wu Yi Shan in Fujian Province at the end of the Ming Dynasty. Fujian Province has the ideal conditions for the cultivation of tea due to an annual average temperature of 18 Celsius.
