Green Matcha Teas

Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. The green tea plants for matcha are shade-grown for about three weeks before harvest, upon which the stems and veins are removed before grinding the best leaves into a fine powder.

The traditional Chinese and Japanese tea ceremony centers on preparation, serving, and drinking of matcha. However, there is ceremonial-grade matcha, meaning that the matcha powder is good enough to drink, and culinary-grade matcha - due to it containing a variety of vitamins and minerals, and its unique flavour, matcha has come to be used as a key ingredient for flavoring a whole range of foods.
