Ceylon Teas
Ceylon black teas are those grown in Sri Lanka (which was known as Ceylon before 1972). They have a crisp aroma reminiscent of citrus, and are used both unmixed and in blends. They are grown on numerous estates which vary in altitude and taste. Ceylon teas are divided into high, medium, and low grown. Of these, the high grown are of the very best quality. Central highland teas can be exceptionally delicious. Mid-country teas usually have a well-made leaf, yielding a good brew and low grown teas can also have a good leaf, which can be well rolled with good twist. We buy all our teas from the chosen estates.
Ceylon – Adawatte Pekoe
A fine single estate tea from Sri Lanka's famed "Uva high country". This Pekoe will produce a powerful aroma with a good colour and strength.

A lovely tea from the Kandy District, with a good red liquor with ample body and an attractive malty taste.

A delightful large leaf tea from a multiple award winning estate. A really fine and quite rare tea.
Ceylon - Best Breakfast Blend BOP
A high quality blend of two specially selected estates. One of these comes from the famous Bogowantalawa valley area.The result is a tea of good colour, strength and flavour. Lovely stuff!
Ceylon - Uruwala O.P. 1 - Moraawak Korale District
A classic black wiry OP leaf. This is a family estate with the only known lady tea-maker. It is internationally renowned for quality manufacture. Close to the protected Sinha Raja rain forest. The brew is a smooth rounded dryness with good length of taste and finishes with a hint of honey. A wonderful tea of the highest quality.
Brunswick Estate BOP - Maskeliya District
An all-round tea of distinction, the leaf produces a fine tea with a very slightly smoky edge. The estate is situated in the central highlands.
Ceylon - Venture Estate BOP (Organic)
From the Dickoya district this tea is clear and coppery with a "Golden" liquor. It has a typical high grown character and briskness.
Nilgiri - South India
The Nilgiri Tea Estates are located in the Blue Mountains of southern India in altitudes between 4,000 and 6,000 feet and are the home of some truly exquisite black teas. Known for their lively fresh taste, sometimes lemony and sometimes woodsy aroma, these teas can best be compared to High Grown Ceylons.

Nilgiri means"blue mountains" and refers to a mountain tea district in Southern India.The taste and freshness are reminiscent of the best Ceylon Teas.
Nilgiri - Welbeck Estate - Frost Tea
Up to three leaves and a bud are carefully plucked after the year's coldest nights at the height of the Quality Season.
Teas with a title in this colour are bio-dynamic. This is a growing trend on our list, as many of the finest tea estates have embraced this discipline.
