Oolong tea (also spelled wulong tea or wu long tea) is a semi-oxidized tea. Taiwan produces the best oolong tea in the world thanks to a mature tea culture and ideal growing conditions. Growing conditions are ideal - high mountains in a subtropical climate create the cool humid conditions that oolong tea thrives on.

Oolong tea from Taiwan is also known as Imperial Formosa Oolong. The first Europeans to visit Taiwan were Portuguese sailors, who were so impressed by the beauty of Taiwan that they called it Isla Formosa.
